“BACARDI” TUBBING TIME TONIC
BARTENDERS CONTEST
The purpose of this competition is to select Nanaimo’s “Official” MARINE FESTIVAL COCKTAIL and to recognize Nanaimo’s best Mixologist (don’t look it up in the dictionary it’s not there) or Bartender if you prefer and the establishment he or she works at. The purpose is also to have a lot of fun and get more people from the hospitality industry involved as well as having a unique cocktail for the MARINE FESTIVAL. The contest is open to any establishment that has a liquor license and more that one bartender can enter from any establishment with the entry fee which is $10.00. A panel of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 Judges will taste each entry and judge the creation on TASTE (maximum 30 points), PRESENTATION (maximum 10 points) and EASE OF SERVICE (maximum of 10 points). The entry can have no more that 2 ounces of alcohol and use Bacardi Limon as one of the ingredients with others being of the common cocktail variety with creative skills up to the mixologist. The winning entry will be named the Official “BACARDI TUBBING TIME TONIC” and tent cards will be made up acknowledging the Mixologist and his place of employment along with the recipe and will be distributed throughout licensed establishments for the summer time and MARINE FESTIVAL MONTH. Date of the event and location will be distributed to all licensed establishments in Nanaimo, Cedar, Cassidy and Lantzville. Following are the rules for the competition. BARTENDER'S COMPETITION
The Host establishment, in conjunction with the Loyal
Nanaimo Bathtub Society and sponsors, are pleased
to announced the annual Bartender's Competition for
the Official “TUBBIN TIME TONIC” cocktail
for July, Marine Festival Month
DATE: June 27, 2011
PLACE: MILLER LANDING (last years winner)
TIME: 7:00 PM
ENTRY FEE: $10:00
RULES
1. There will be only one entry per person.
2. Each drink will consist of a maximum of 2 ounces
of spirits but
Competitors MUST use a BICARDI product TBA as one
ingredient
An ample supply of that product will be provided at
the host bar at no extra cost.
3. Each contestant will provide ample amount of their
entry for a
panel of no less than three judges and no more than
five to sample.
4. Each entry will consist of ingredients available
at most pubs.
5. Entrants are encouraged to call the host establishment
to confirm
availability of all ingredients.
6. The winning entry recipe will be made available
to all participating
establishments as well as other licensed establishments
with a
suggested maximum retail of $7.00
7. Trophies and publication of the winner and his
drink recipe
will be provided by and distributed to licensed establishments.
8. All participating establishments agree to advertise
the winning
Recipe at its bar, by way of tent cards (that will
be supplied) and
displayed on tables at each establishment for the
month of July.
